1970 Breitling Cosmonaute 0819

The Cosmonaute is an unusual watch but a very useful one. After Scott Carpenter wore a 12 hour Breilting as a combat pilot in the Koren War, he suggested to Breilting they create a 24-hour dial version. This became the first Breilting in space. In the late 1960s, Breitling introduced the 819 as a Cosmonaute in a larger case, water resistant,  with a serrated-edge bezel, rather than the coin-edge or beaded bezel of earlier executions.

This Breilting has a glossy black dial with Arabic numerals in luminous. The case shows wear from a fulfilled life, plus a black bezel in excellent condition and is a great example of a tool watch. Complete with its original paperwork dated to 1970 when it was purchased in Worcester.
