Vintage Heuer/TAG Heuer watches
Since being founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer, the name Heuer has become synonymous with motor racing, having introduced the world’s first automatic chronographs (Calibre 11) in 1969 with the Autavia, Heuer Carrera and Monaco models.
It was the colourful large square Heuer Monaco made as a tribute to the Grand Prix, that captured the world’s attention, hitting the pinnacle of cool in 1971 when actor Steve McQueen chose to wear it in the movie Le Mans.
In 1985, TAG group purchased a majority stake in the company, forming TAG Heuer and continued the brand’s longstanding relationship with the automobile industry by becoming the official timekeeper for Formula 1 racing in 1992.
