Vintage Rolex watches

Rolex was founded as Wilsdorf and Davis by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis in London, England in 1905, before moving to Switzerland in 1920. Over the next ten years Rolex pioneered several technologies including the first waterproof watch (named “Oyster”) and the world’s first self-winding mechanism, the Perpetual rotor.

Between 1953 and 1967, Rolex was best known for its pioneering exploits, including Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s expedition to the summit of Mount Everest and the introduction of the tool watches, the Submariner, Explorer and GMT Master in the 1950s.

The 60s and 70s saw Rolex launch the ultimate tool for endurance racing, with the Daytona and it’s further exploits into deep diving with the introduction of the Sea-Dweller.
